Four Colorado Press Women members won first places with their entries in the NFPW At-Large Communications Contest, which means those entries are now competing in the National NFPW contest. Those winners and their entries are:

  • Kate Ruder – 1st place – Specialty article-physical health
  •   “        “           1st place – Specialty article-education

 

  • Karen Petersen  — 1st place – Specialty Article-Government or Politics
  •   “            “               1st place – Web copy
  •  “             “               Honorable mention – Publication regularly written by entrant: newsletter – nonprofit, government, education

 

  • Donna Bryson – 1st place – Personal Blog
  •     “             “        2nd place – Specialty article- green/environmental

 

  • Julie Estlick – 1st place – Page design-Magazine or newspaper
  •    “         “      — 1st place – Publication regularly written by entrant–Public relations material-Report

 

Only the first-place awards will be competing in the National contest. Winners will be announced at the NFPW conference in Cincinnati June 22-24.

Two nonmembers from Colorado entered the At-Large Contest but did not take first place:

  • Madeline Geocaris from NREL took third place for a specialty article-science or technology.
  • Karrie Osborn got an honorable mention for a personality profile over 750 words.
