Colorado Press Women members fared even better than previous years in the national contest of the National Federation of Press Women when the results were announced virtually June 11 during the annual conference — four first-place awards, four second places, three thirds and two honorable mentions, meaning all 13 national entries placed. Congratulations everyone!

This year’s contest had more than 2,000 entries from 32 states and the District of Columbia, including 299 entries from Delaware.

Here are CPW’s individual awards:

DONNA BRYSON:

  • First place: Specialty article: Social Issues
  • Second place:  Specialty article: In-depth Reporting
  • Third place: Specialty article: Continuing Coverage or Unfolding News
  • Third place: Specialty article: Religion
  • Honorable mention: Specialty article: Arts and Entertainment

AMANDA RAE BUSCH:

  • First place: Nonfiction Book for Adult Readers, General Nonfiction for her cookbook

NIKA DURHAM:

  • Honorable mention: Feature Story, Online publication

KARRIE OSBORN:

  • Second place: Blog, Corporate or for-profit

KAREN PETERSEN:

  • First place: Specialty article, Government or politics

KATE RUDER

  • Second place: Specialty article, Education
  • Third place: Specialty article, Physical health

MARILYN SALTZMAN:

  • First place: Blog, Personal
  • Second place: Nonfiction Book for Adult Readers, Autobiography or Memoir
