Conference Communications Intern

National Federation of Press Women Conference 2025

 

The National Federation of Press Women (NFPW), a U.S.-based organization of professional women and men working in the field of communications, is seeking a college student to assist with preparations for NFPW’s 2025 conference, which will take place September 11–13 in Golden, Colorado. The conference will be hosted by Colorado Press Women, an affiliate of NFPW. 

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Coursework toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, or a related discipline
  • Strong writing and organizational skills (see How to Apply for how applicants can demonstrate these)
  • Event planning experience and guest relations experience
  • Familiarity with and access to Google Drive, Microsoft Word, and InDesign (or other graphic design software)
  • Graphic design experience is a plus
  • Willingness to accept supervision, ability to follow directions, and capability to work under pressure and work as a team
  • Ability to support the conference in person September 11–13, 2025.

Job Responsibilities

Intern will work under the guidance of a mentor from Colorado Press Women to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Support conference promotion efforts by creating engaging newsletter, social media, and other written content
  • Assist with design of printed conference program brochure
  • Help develop a list of activities for conference attendees’ families in Golden and Denver
  • Help coordinate a student-led panel on use of artificial intelligence in academia
  • Provide logistical, administrative and attendee/speaker support at the conference
  • Attend two 1-hour virtual conference planning sessions
  • Represent the NFPW and respective school through professional appearance and a positive, helpful attitude.

Time Commitment

  • Mid-June – Mid-September 2025
  • 8 – 10 hours per week
  • This is an unpaid position.
