Sally Stich has been a freelance magazine and newspaper writer for the past 20 years. Currently, she writes frequently for Time and Woman's Day, where she is a contributing editor. Her work has appeared in Marie Claire, This Old House, Parade, Ladies Home Journal and Delta SKY, among others.
Stich received a bachelor's degee from the University of Denver and a master's in English literature from the University of Colorado. Into her seventh year of teaching at CU, she realized she could write the assignments she asked her students to do. That resulted in a regular entertainment column in the Denver Post in 1986.
A former writing teacher at the University of Colorado and the University of Denver, Stich also teaches writers' seminars all over the country. Writing essays is one of her strongpoints and the topic of a workshop she offers. She explores areas critical to good essay writing, such as how to find the universal in the personal, how to take risks, how to find your voice, and how to find the right publication. She also includes a list of some of the best essay markets.
Stich, a longtime member and former president of the Colorado Authors League, is a co-editor of the new CAL book, Writing, etc., which provides more that 250 tips on craft, marketing and the writer's life.
Stich, her husband and two children live in Denver.
