Christine McManus graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in news-editorial journalism. She returned to Colorado after her first reporting job at The Citizen, a small daily newspaper in upstate New York. Since then, she's worked as a reporter for Colorado Community Newspapers, a group of weeklies based in Castle Rock, the Summit Daily in Frisco and the Fort Collins Coloradoan.
She's traveled through about two dozen countries on a shoestring, including Guatemala where she spent time volunteering and learning Spanish. Awards from Colorado Press Women inspired her at key moments, but not as much as the veteran members who paved the path before her.
