Fred Brown retired as Capitol Bureau chief for The Denver Post in 2002, but continues to write a Sunday editorial page column for the Post. He also is a political analyst for 9News and teaches journalism at Metropolitan State College of Denver.
Brown has become a well-sought source on ethics in journalism and was one of the authors of the 1996 revisions to the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics. A former national president of SPJ, he writes a monthly column on ethics for the Quill.
Brown is a graduate of Colorado State and Northwestern universities, an honor alumnus of Colorado State, an SDX national award winner for editorial writing, 2001 Colorado Newspaperperson of the Year and 2003 inductee into the Denver Press Club Hall of Fame. He also is on the boards of the Press Club, Sigma Delta Chi Foundation and Colorado Public Radio.
